A traditional technique based on ancient principles that gentle pressure applied to ‘reflex’ points on the feet helps to redress the imbalance of energy that can cause stress and ill health. This is a deeply relaxing treatment that can be carried out on the feet or hands. It is excellent for helping to relieve pain and with managing stress and anxiety.

Read more about reflexology: Reflexology is a popular and relaxing treatment based on the principle that reflex points on the soles, sides and tops of the feet correspond to areas throughout the body.
Reflexologists work on these reflex points with their thumbs, fingers or knuckles using specialised massage techniques to help correct imbalances. Because of this, reflexology is often used alongside conventional medicine in hospitals and other healthcare settings.
Reflexology can help to relieve anxiety and tension, encourage relaxation, improve mood and aid sleep, although some people use it to help them cope with more specific health challenges. It can also help athletes boost performance and increase motivation ahead of an event.
Some reflexologists apply a really firm pressure, which can be uncomfortable for the client. Personally, I don’t ‘dig deep’ into the feet – although if that’s what you prefer then of course I can do that! I find a gentle pressure is all that is needed to seek out areas of imbalance within the body and encourage those areas to re-balance.
I believe this results in a much more relaxing and effective treatment.
Your reflexology appointment starts with a full consultation, asking various questions about your health and lifestyle to ensure reflexology is right for you. For the treatment itself you remain fully clothed, simply removing your shoes and socks. You’ll be invited to relax on the treatment couch then I will gently cleanse your feet before applying a non-greasy massage cream to help provide a free-flowing treatment. If appropriate, your treatment may also include relaxation or visualisation exercises to further help reduce stress and anxiety.
Hand reflexology works on exactly the same principle as foot reflexology but the reflex points are found on the palm, fingers and tops of the hands. Hand reflexology is a useful substitute for people who really don’t like having their feet touched! The treatment includes a therapeutic hand and arm massage. It too starts with a consultation to ensure the treatment is right for you.
